Superhero Science Workshop

Have you ever wondered how Spiderman can walk up walls an how Superman lifts up cars? Find out what makes our favourite superheros so special in this workshop which looks at ‘biomimetics’ or the way that science tries to copy nature to achieve remarkable things! Dr Annette Taylor from University of Leeds Research Team leads a fascinating, hands-on workshops where you will get a chance to peer through microscopes and even examine new technology to see how becoming a real superhero might just be possible!Places are limited to 12 and will be given on a first come, first served basis. AGES 12- 14 years only. Saturday 10th November, 10am - 12.30pm, The Carriageworks, Millennium Square. FREE but limited places, see below for how to enter.

Talking pictures: Comics, Manga and Graphic Novels.
Dr. Mel Gibson will lead a session exploring and sharing sequential art of all genres. This workshop will look at the importance of the comic strip medium, learning about where they come from and how they work. The session will start with Mel talking about material from around the world, followed by an opportunity to look through a collection of titles and to start work on the ‘cover of a comic you’d like to see’.

The session is open to young people between the ages of 12 to 18.
Sat 10th November from 10am to 12.30pm Travelling Man Coffee Bar 32 Central Rd.
