Thought Bubble 2018 runs 17th – 23rd September!

TBTV: Sketching Spotlight 2014, Day 1 by thoughtbubblefestival

Hey gang!

We hope you had a lovely break over December, and that you’ve warped into the new year full of vim and vigor with your sights set on world domination! We’re currently plotting to make this year’s Thought Bubble our best yet, and we’ll have our first wave of updates coming for you soon (spoilers: 2015 is going to have a big ol’ bubble), but first we’ve got some cool stuff from 2014’s festival for anyone who couldn’t make it, or who could and would like to experience the  fun all over again!

As part of last year’s Thought Bubble, we were awarded a very generous grant from Arts Council England in order to allow us to take video recordings of the panels and talks at 2014’s convention. Thanks to this, we’ve got hours of great footage that we’re currently working to get up online as a series of Bubscasts, and today sees a fresh batch of videos taking their place in the public eye, as we present the first of our Sketching Spotlights from 2014’s convention weekend.

Hosted by Peter Doherty, Thought Bubble’s Sketching Spotlights are an annual event where comics fans can see some of the finest artists currently working in the industry drawing live on stage and discussing their creative process.

This sketching spotlight took place at 2014’s Thought Bubble convention on Saturday 15th November in the Royal Armouries’ Bury Theatre, and our panel comprised Boulet, Emily Carroll, Danielle Corsetto, and Babs Tarr. The sketches that were created during this session were very kindly donated for auction in support of the Barnardo’s Charity, and we’ll have another blog post going live later this month regarding the auction itself, so be sure to subscribe here to find out as soon as that happens!

After the jump, you can find the videos themselves, with each member of the panel taking their turn under the Sketching Spotlight, but for a playlist of all four videos that will autoplay consecutively, please click here. Please note: Thought Bubble does not control panel content, and there may be occasional strong language.

We’ll be uploading lots of videos to our YouTube channel throughout the year, as 2015’s Thought Bubble approaches ever closer, so make sure to subscribe to our channel so you don’t miss any! You can find Thought Bubble’s YouTube channel by clicking here.

We’d like to say a huge thank you to all the people who took part in this panel, and also to our amazing technical coordinator Jip and his wonderful team of volunteers, without whom none of this would have been possible.
